Who we are
Our website address is: https://freshmixwords.ca
This site is owned by Susan Patterson.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
We collect certain types of information about our visitors and subscribers as explained below.
We do this to manage our subscriber database, to send e-mails to our subscribers, and to monitor site performance.
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form. We also collect the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
When you use a form to contact us, the entry is saved on our site and emailed to the site administrator.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to save your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you have a user account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
We use Google Analytics to track how visitors use our website.
Google Analytics is a web analysis service provided by Google Inc. (“Google”). Google collects cookies and usage data to track and examine the use of this website, to prepare reports on its activities, and to share them with other Google services. Google may use the data collected to contextualize and personalize the ads on its own advertising network.
Manage subscribers and send e-mails
We use Mailchimp to manage e-mail subscribers, to send e-mails, and to see how our e-mails are performing.
Mailchimp is an e-mail address management and message sending service provided by The Rocket Science Group, LLC.
In our database of subscribers, we maintain your name and e-mail address. We also keep cookies to track whether you opened an e-mail we sent.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
What rights you have over your data
If you subscribed to our e-mails, left a comment on this site, or are a registered site user, you have the right to view, update, and delete any personal information we have about you.
You can view or update your personal information at any time.
If you are an email subscriber, click the Update Profile link in any e-mail we send you.
If you are a registered user of the site, log in to view Your Profile. For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
To have us make changes to your data, email [email protected]
You can request that we export a file of all the personal data we have about you and then send it to you. You can also request that we erase all the personal data we hold about you.
This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where your data is processed
Our website is hosted in Canada. Those of our service providers are hosted in Canada or the United States of America.
If you live in the European Union, any information we obtain from you will be processed outside the European Union.
How we protect your data
- Every page on this website is encrypted with HTTPS.
- New subscribers sign up with a two-factor authentication process, otherwise known as double opt-in. This means that after you fill in the email subscription form you will receive an email that contains a link to verify your subscription and confirm you really want to subscribe.
Will we share your data with others?
We will never rent, loan, sell, or give your personal information to any other party without your consent.
